I am in the process of building a large wall cabinet for the shop. Instead of flat doors, I am going to build box doors about 4-6 inches deep, mainly to hold my growing chisel collection. The cabinet and the box doors are being built from the melamine given to me by Rob (thanks again Rob).
What are some good options for hinges for these box doors? This will be a frameless cabinet and the box doors will be ~18" x 42". I was going to use continuous (piano) hinge, but not sure how well that would work since it would have to be screwed into the edge of the melamine, which is basically particle board.
I could just use standard door type hinges, but they would have to be mounted to the outside of the cabinet and box doors to work (?). That would allow the box doors to be opened a full 180 degrees, which is nice.
Any ideas/suggestions? Pictures would be great.
