The destruction of an ancient temple in Sixian county, Anhui Province, by a local property developer after it was auctioned off by the county government to make way for residential apartments has been slammed by cultural heritage experts. The Sakyamuni temple, built during the Northern Song Dynasty (960 to 1127), was listed in the first batch of cultural preservation units in the county in 1981.
