So it’s official. Joy Orbison’s ‘Ellipsis’ is finally getting a release. After more than a year of hearing Ellipsis being played in mixes and clubs the world over by the likes of Pearson Sound, Scuba and Boodika, fans (me included) had given up hope that this would ever see the light of day.
With its hands in the air, 90′s rave feel – house piano loop included – it manages to set the crowd off each and every time.
No date has been mentioned, just a note left by the man himself on his Facebook wall simply saying“Oh and HINF8673 – Ellipsis/Ellipsis (Head High Remix)” which has been widely assumed to mean that the track is to be released on Hinge Finger, the label set up by Orbison and illustrator/ photographerWill Bankhead.
For an extra level of geekery, the vocal sample comes from a 1996 Dutch documentary on the UK D’n'B scene which you can see here (skip to 01:27sec to hear the sample )
You don’t have to listen to hard to hear the waves of excitement rippling across the internet. This one, like most of his releases, has been a long time coming.
