Shady Lane – Inconvenient Face Hinge | The Orange Press | New ...

Their second single off the album, Built Guilt out May 18th, ‘Inconvenient Face Hinge’ is as bizarre and peculiar as it’s name. This album seems to have astral projected into another realm. The quirky, slightly random soundscape of ‘Inconvenient Face Hinge’ still retains some great hooks and despite the psychedelic chaos, the track is contagious and captivating. It’s a huge step away from their first single, ‘Dumb Hope’, which is more along the vein of Shady Lane’s debut years ago. Think Death Cab.

After seeing them perform their new tracks for the first time at Flinders Bar a while ago, they exuded a personality that is dynamic, exciting and beyond the typical. Possibly taking on some inspiration from Richard in Your Mind, whom frontman, Jordy Lane is also a member, the music is like some gigantic, glitchy friendly monster. Sometimes he slumbers for long enough for Jordy’s sensitive side to come through to remind us of the music we first fell in love with, before we are head-over-heels with the latest direction.

The video is also made by Jordy himself and do I have to tell you it’s awesome? Slightly demented but so appropriate….
