You have just finished measuring and planning for your new frameless glass shower. You have received a quote from Dulles Glass and Mirror, and are primed to purchase. As you imagine the sparkling new glass shower enclosure, you realize one thing is missing: the hardware!
Depending on the layout of your shower, hardware could include clips, hinges, handles, and other incidentals like towel bars or robe hooks. Hinges are an especially integral part of a shower set-up. Here are your hinge options explained:
- Glass-to-Glass 90°: This hinge is intended to connect glass wall to glass wall at a 90° angle. The Glass-to-Glass 90° Hera has gently rounded edges for a softer look. If you desire a more “masculine” feel, the Glass-to-Glass 90° Zeus has straight, sharper edges.
- Glass-to-Glass 135°: Similar to the hinge above, this hinge is made to connect two glass panels at a 135° angle. The two types of hinges available are Glass-to-Glass 135° Hera (rounded) and Glass-to-Glass 135° Zeus (squared).
- Glass-to-Glass 180°: Last but not least, this hinges designed to join two glass walls at a 180° angle. As above, two different hinge styles are available: Glass-to-Glass 180° Hera and Glass-to-Glass 180° Zeus.
- Pivot: A pivot hinge differs from a glass-to-glass hinge in that it is not generally used to join two shower walls together, but rather to join a glass door to a shower. This creates an attractive and seamless look. Pivot Hera and Pivot Zeus versions are available.
- Full Back: This traditional hinge has a full backing plate, making it a strong hardware option. Like the pivot hinge, it is mostly used to secure a shower door. Full Back Hera and Full Back Zeus styles are offered.
- Offset: This hinge is basically the same as the full back, but the hinge is offset to one side on the backing plate. This unique configuration allows this hinge to be used in non-traditional custom shower arrangements. This hinge is only offered in the square-edge Offset Zeus.
